Hi everyone, I am a late diagnosed ADHDer having recieved a diagnosis a couple of months ago at 38. My son was just diagnosed at 16 with more inattentive that hyperactive ADHD.
Its been a journey, and I think the impact of NOT having that diagnosis for my life until now is probably bigger than I realise. It has definitely had an impact on my mental health to feel that I was constantly just lazy, if I tried a bit harder etc.
As we move forward with therapy and treatment one of the biggest changes we are making is creating a home life that works for us, regardless of what others might think about how we do that.
I was only diagnosed with ADHD in January, though I self-diagnosed a few years ago, so I'm interested in other people's experiences of having ADHD, strategies for managing it, medication...
And, if you have ADHD plus other diagnoses or forms of mental distress, does managing the ADHD make a difference to your experiences of the other things?
