Peer Group Chat // Therapeutic Endings // Thursday 19th September 2024, 7-8:30PM AEST

On Thursday 19th September 2024, we will be holding a Peer Group Chat on the topic of Therapeutic EndingsScreenshot 2024-09-19 at 4.40.23 PM.pngThe end of something may be a time to celebrate, yet it can also stir up feelings of loss, grief and hurt. We recognise some of the emotions that can come with ending therapy, so let’s gather to talk about therapeutic endings.

The event start times across Australia are below:

tyme_1-1726727702150.pngThis is currently held in Australian Eastern Standard hours:

WA: 5pm

NT: 6:30pm

SA: 6:30pm

QLD: 7pm

NSW, ACT, VIC & TAS: 7pm

For anyone unfamiliar with Peer Group Chats, each focuses on a specific topic and is guided by Peer Workers with lived experience of mental health issues and recovery. During these chats, a moderator is present to ensure a safe environment for individuals and the group. It is a space for us as peers to share our stories and experiences, and connect with those who are going through something similar.

Peer Group Chats are hosted outside of the forums, using a platform called Chatwee. To join an Online Peer Group Chat, you will need to register for an account with Chatwee. On the night, follow this link and log in to your Chatwee account before the group starts.

Please see this FAQ for any questions you may have. For any issues on the night, please message the moderator of the group on the Chat platform. If you'd like to receive a reminder closer to the event, please support this post & we'll keep you updated.

Re: Peer Group Chat // Therapeutic Endings // Thursday 19th September 2024, 7-8:30PM AEST

Thank you to all those who joined us tonight to talk about Therapeutic Endings. You are more than welcome to continue the chat here:

@Macqua @Shaz51 @Ame @Glisten @Healandlove @Shift83 @Cleo2 @Snowie @Captain24 @Andarna @Who-Knows @Ainjoule @Patches59 @Jacques  @Wildflower and others.

Q1: Most of us have experienced the end of a relationship at one point or another. Can you recall some feelings associated with ‘endings’ in general?

Q2: When we talk about therapeutic endings, we might jump straight to thinking only about mental health therapists. What other ‘therapeutic’ relationships can you think of?

Q3: What are some reasons why ending a relationship with a therapist can be hard sometimes?

Q4: What are some of the benefits of ending a therapeutic relationship?

Q5: What are some of the challenges people can face after a therapeutic relationship has ended?

Q6: What are some signs that it’s time for a therapeutic relationship to end?

Q7: What are some things we can do to make therapeutic endings ‘therapeutic’?

Here are some further resources we recommend having a look at:

I am sorry I did not attend but I had a zoom meeting for Uni. Is there anywhere I can read the thread? @tyme

Hey @Eve7 ,

Sorry you missed it.

At this stage, we do not have the chat transcript.

We are looking to move to a new platform and hopefully there will be more success in getting a transcript to members.

Do you have any particular questions our thoughts about therapeutic endings?
