Aaah, that was nice @Appleblossom. Thank you for the invite. How have you been? How is your music, in all its facets — and that other matter that has been causing you so much concern for so long — going? Are you still volunteering at the zoo? And how is your family dynamic going?
I only drop in to check my mail mostly these days as I have been busy with my sports and enjoying it as much as you enjoy your music. It keeps me busy, and I am engaged in different experiences which has been very beneficial for my growth. So necessary to this stage of my life. At present, life is good here. I hope it is for you too.

@Shaz51 I like all sorts of different teas. I have just made a small pot of “mulled wine magic” from T2 and have placed it on top of my wood heater to keep warm while it brews. It is basically a mix of dried fruits, cloves, star anise and other herbs …. Quite yummy on such a cold day!
Yes I have three dogs of my own and two foster dogs here at the moment. My smallest is only 3.5kg tiny little boy and my biggest is a 70kg Great Dane girl, who is a total couch hog! They all like to be in by the fire in this weather!

Hey @Historylover its been a while, but good to see you. Its great that you are doing well in sports life and generally.
My music is steadily turning over, and is very rich and keeps me socially connected.
Family has had a few challenges, but I am still grateful for my son being in my life. I know he has done his best given his circumstances, as most of us do. Lately we have been watching I, Claudius, a BBC series about the Roman Empire.
In other areas, socially, I seem to going through life lessons regarding who is worthy of trust and who is not.

Hello @Shaz51 @Appleblossom @Historylover @K9Mumma @Dimity
It's a beautiful crisp sunny day here which is a nice change from the rainy weekend! I hope the sun is also shining where you are.
I think it's about time for a mid-morning cuppa, my fingers are feeling a bit cold so I need a nice hot mug to hold onto! Would anyone care to join?

So nice to have this opportunity to talk again @Appleblossom and to see how your pages are turning.
Yes, my sports are going well. In fact, I'm beginning to be a force to be reckoned with on the badminton court—but it's taken a year! Carpet bowls and table tennis are still a work in progress. I'm taking on more responsibilities at the club and it's nice to feel relevant. The people there are so nice. I genuinely can't believe my luck. I sometimes wonder when it's all going to go wrong, but it doesn't seem to be heading that way. I just keep getting deeper into the organisation and its complexities. It's fun.
I'm in a new world now and I am still finding my feet. I'm enjoying the challenge. There's so much more to me than my life's circumstances have allowed me to express—as with you. The avenue ahead just keeps widening a little more each day and I take each step cautiously.
My self-confidence had been shattered and is slowly building. I've even been considering joining Toastmasters, but I don't want many of their desired attributes for myself...talking with my hands, for instance. I just want to be able to express myself clearly, naturally and with confidence.
Just for practice, fun, this morning, I wrote a 4-5-minute Toastmaster Icebreaker speech. It goes for a minute and a half! I guess I'll have to put more meat on its bones. But how to remember my train of thought for that long! It's very difficult. Perhaps my next challenge?
I'm pleased your music and connections there are churning along. I know how much music is a part of your soul. Mine too, but I'll leave the performing to you.
I, Claudius, sounds fascinating. I haven't been doing a lot of television viewing in recent weeks. I feel like it's just more of the same. Documentaries, travelogues and repeats etc. I have ventured onto Youtube and have been putting in my twopence worth in the comments here and there. My self-expression.
Oh, well, I guess it's time for vittles.

Hello, @Ru-bee. How are you? I bought fingerless gloves this Winter as I suffer from cold hands too—so cold that I get chilblains. But they are not standard gloves, they have Scandinavian-type patterning! So, my hands are warm but my fingertips are still cold. Can't have everything, I guess.
Thanks for the warming cuppa. A mixed day at my place weatherwise. Sun is shining but some clouds suggest rain may be building. Perhaps I'll still get my washing dry.

Ooh that's a good idea @Historylover keeping the hands warm while still having the function of the fingies!
I'm hoping my washing dries too! Though I'm resigned to the thought that I might just need to take it to the laundromat to use the big dryers there...

Yes, good to chat @Historylover and good to hear your activities are going well. Yes, organisations take work behind the scenes. It can be meaningful and camaraderie can be great. I was very isolated, but gradually being more involved is interesting, and causing me to dig deep in my personality in new ways. Who said you can’t teach an old dog new tricks!?!? The sense that I can genuinely joke and be accepted is new . It helps lighten the load for all. My old insecurities can rise up, but I have promised myself to show up, the insecurities fade away. I accept that variation and it helps me stop all or nothing thinking… and that it’s good enough. There are parts of my life that are heavy laden, and I try and balance it all in my mood. I had a spontaneous walk at the river and the beach this morning, with many lovely moments.
I have been wearing fingerless gloves in winter for over a decade. I have 2 pair, thin burgundy ones and thick green ones. Love em!
