Re: Share a cuppa?

Hey @Former-Member ,

You've tempted me to have hot choc too! So I've made Hot Choc for both of us 🙂

You know what everyone? Tonight, I have really grateful for a lot of things. I should put this in our Gratitude thread, but I also wanted to show gratitude here @Former-Member @Shaz51 @Paulette @Captain24

For those that don't know, I live on my own and really can't be bothered cooking. It's just tooooo much effort. Yet my fridge and freezer is over-flowing with food. Tonight, my sister gave me homemade Mexican 'dip' with cottage cheese, guacamole, refined beans and cheese on top + corn chips; she also gave me seafood marinara.

Then I got a message from my old neighbour who asked me to go there for dinner. I said I couldn't because I'm working. So then she packed Lebanese food for me - Mediterranean Rice, homemade tabouli (with homegrown parsley, tomatoes and lemon), with kofta meat and grilled chicken.

Oh, and today, a colleague made me a Sri Lankan rice dish...

I feel so spoilt.

What did others have for dinner?

I hear you are feeling tired @Shaz51 ,

But please I'm here if you want to talk about your day 🙂

Re: Share a cuppa?

Hi everyone, I had a very warming cup of coffee at Collegium Musicum, and found someone who'll help me service a beautiful clarinet I recently acquired because the community organisation I sometimes go to was going to throw it away if I didn't accept it...anyway Peter's going to help me service it, which means bathing it in a softwood oils and chemicals, and gluing a lever ring back on, as well as shaving parts where it's swollen from moisture and moistening the parts those parts have dried, and he also said some of the keys may need greasing. He said he can show me how to do it while we're giving it the servicing, because if I can do it myself it'll save me a lot of money...and it seems I'm the refuge for neglected and unwanted musical instruments, my trombone is really weathered old instrument the shop couldn't get anyone interested in, the viola and violin I have were both from oppshops, the euphonium is a secondhand one that no one wanted, I have these beautiful wooden and plastic bass, tenor, alto, treble, descant and sopranino recorders that were from oppshops and deceased estates and the families just had no idea of what to do with them. As I say my place is becoming the refuge for neglected and unwanted musical instruments. I can't bare to see these things get thrown out. I do love having them and playing them too.

Re: Share a cuppa?

Hi @Shaz51 ,

I'm so glad you are your zucchini quiche. At least it would help you feel better with protein and being home made.

Re: Share a cuppa?

That sounds great @tyme I feel gratitude for food always too including that hot chocolate.

Tonight for tea I had Thai food - Tom Yum Soup it was absolutely delicious. I am grateful to the restaurant that made it and my friend for taking me there 😊.

On that happy note it's goodnight for me 😴👍

Re: Share a cuppa?

@tyme 🥰

Mum has to move from the hospital she is in as it is only for short term

So trying to find somewhere else has been so hard to find as everywhere is full up

The closest place is 90kms away and we went to have a meeting and a tour --- wow soo expensive

So we talked and decided to bring mum back home to her house ( our house) with no aged care support and mum is " high needs" and should be in a hospital

Mr shaz is worried that we would need to stop working to look after her

Stopped in at the hospital to visit mum on our way home

Then the head nurse saw me and said that mum's medical team are having a meeting about mum tomorrow morning to see what the next step is

Re: Share a cuppa?

That's sooo wow! I'm gobsmacked @Abner - Having music play while we sip our cuppas is also doable!

I love all those instruments you have mentioned. I love old famous hymns, classical music etc. I'm not much of a contemporary music fan. I learnt piano for 17 years, and played the flute and baritone, french horn, piccolo and melodica.

I still have these instruments, but I haven't taken them out in years.

Re: Share a cuppa?

Such a difficult time @Shaz51 . I'm hearing that there are so many things to weigh up. If she goes into aged care, your wages will be going into it; if you look after her at home, you will have to quit/reduce work to care for her, while also battling your own health conditions and Mr Shaz's.

Please don't be afraid to let Mum's treating team know this. It would be virtually impossible for you to provide her the 24/7 care she needs...

Fingers crossed that decisions go your way.

Hugs, tyme
